Hi, I’m Branden. At the heart of everything, I love people. While the world is vast, beautiful, and interesting all on its own, being able to experience it with others exponentially multiplies its depth and richness. By sharing perspectives and stories, we not only find commonality and community, but we also get to learn just how many different ways there are to interpret each individual phenomenon. We inspire each other. Few things motivate me like the the chance to better someone’s day, and I strive to make the world a better home for those I share this planet with.

I’m also a born tinkerer. I love unraveling systems of all shapes and sizes, discovering all the ins and outs of how they function. I love the detective work of root cause analysis, starting with an unexpected behavior, following each telltale thread of causality further down the rabbit hole until I’ve finally identified the source and can tell the story of how everything connects. I love the challenge of starting with a problem and then through research, creativity, and code arriving at a rewarding solution. I love the simple satisfaction of making something that works.

My guiding principles are kindness, compassion, and curiosity, and they have lead me to be interested in many things. In addition to technology, I love learning about communication, philosophy, psychology, games, accessibility, and statistics. All of these interests bleed into each other and orbit around my core interests: people and systems.

I intend to use this space to share some of myself and my experiences. As I continue to grow and change, I imagine that it will be interesting to return to these posts and see both how I have changed and how I have remained the same. And I hope what I post here can be helpful or interesting to you.
